What We Say About Ourselves
A Little About Us
Rabbits to Riches are a post-punk trio from Philly with catchy songs fleshed out with erratic guitar and wistful lyrics. The band has been playing shows since 2015 in and around Philly, and will be on tour this Spring promoting their new EP, Maybe You’ll Do, recorded with Jeff Zeigler (The War on Drugs, The Weather Station, Kurt Vile) at Uniform Recording.
A little More About Us
Rabbits to Riches are a post-punk trio in Philly that create hooky, dreamy songs with wistful lyrics with an experimental tinge.
Lead singer Brigitte Benecke’s muted, unadorned style draws comparison to Alison Statton of Young Marble Giants. Her melodic bass paired with angular, skittering rhythms of guitarist Chris Baldys and drummer Peterson Goodwyn, led one fan to say the sound “brought him back to Athens, GA in 1982.”
Benecke’s sound ranges from Yo La Tengo’s nocturnal studies in longing, to the exuberant power pop of the Exploding Hearts. Some of the bands she draws inspiration from include The Talking Heads, New Order, and Cate Le Bon. At once familiar and full of surprises, R2R’s songs are full of hooks and stories, but aren’t afraid of left turns.
What People Say About Us
“With a sleek yet slightly sinister, bass steered edge, Brigitte Benecke’s vocal delivery intimates action in a monologue-confessional approach.” -The Deli Mag
